♡ TATTOO POST ♡

I don't know what it is, but I've come to love tattoos and the tattoo culture. What first started off as a mere interest has become a big hobby of mine. I have 16 to date, and many more to come (in fact my next one is booked for 4 days time!) So I thought I'd post a walkthrough to all of my tattoos. I'll try and do them in chronological order.

1.) R A V E N

This was my first ever tattoo that I got a few months after I turned 16 (naughty, I know). It's the silhouette of a raven in flight. It annoys me that loads of people are getting bird silhouettes to follow a trend, and people seem to think mine is the same. Mine is actually the birth bird of my granddad who passed away when I was young. Y'know how you can have stones, flowers, etc for each month? Turns out you can get birth birds too. I still love it, but I do plan on adding maybe a few more silhouettes around it, the placement looks a bit odd now and it needs building upon.

2/3) L Y R I C S

These are the most asked about out of all my tattoos. I'm a barmaid, so whenever I'm pulling a pint, customers try to read my arms. I can't count how many times people have asked to read them, and what they're from. These lyrics are from Avenged Sevenfold's 'Gunslinger'*, which was played at my other granddad's funeral.

*the actual lyrics are 'stars in the night', but sky worked better for this tattoo.

4.) I N F I N I T Y

Another one of those tattoos that are extremely popular, which is irritating because I got mine a few years ago. Sigh. Anyway, not too much meaning to this, purely wanted it because of 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower'. I do still like it, though.

5.) A N C H O R

THIS WAS SO DIFFICULT TO GET A PHOTO OF (hence the shitty quality. Sorry). Just a bog standard, slap on anchor on the back of my neck. I just thought it was cute. Still do.

6/7.) J A P A N E S E

(Before anybody goes on about translations and such, my cousin is fluent in Japanese and teaches English in Osaka). Top one (left wrist) 'serenity'. Bottom one (right wrist) 'warrior'. My first Sailor Moon inspired tattoo. Two sides of myself I try to live by daily.

8.) R O S E

Another bog standard tattoo. Rose tattoos never ever go out of style, and they are so versatile. I'm planning on having a few more different coloured ones added around it, as it's the start of my sleeve. How exciting! This was also my first legal tattoo, wahey.

9/10.) L I G H T S

(I hate toes and feet, so I've tried to hide mine for your own good). 'In this fearsome pilgrimage, unearth a crusader's heart'. Lights Bokan, my idol, inspiration and woman crush, has this tattooed on her ribs. They were lyrics of hers that never made it into a song. I absolutely love them, and I try to live my life by these words.

11.) B I R D C A G E

(Again, sorry about the crap photo.) This has no meaning to it, but my tattoo artist drew it up when I told her I wanted a girly sleeve. I've still got shading and colour to add to it. The picture isn't very clear, but it's a birdcage with a long ribbon, a string of pearls, some leaves and filigree surrounding it.

12.) L O C K E T

This is above my knee. This has no meaning either, it's simply a pretty, heart shaped locket with roses. I'm hoping to add roses and a matching key on the other leg. This still needs shading and colouring, too. I'm so lazy :-(

13.) M A N D A L A

Probably my favourite of all my tattoos to date. It's an Indian mandala, which are patterns used to represent the cosmos. I have a deep interest in cultural beliefs and astronomy, so what better way to combine the two? It also fits the theme of my Sailor Moon tattoos. This is the tattoo I get complimented on the most, because of it's intricate detail.

14.) B E A U T Y & T H E   B E A S T

(This is on the side of my calf, but I'm too lazy to rotate the picture, deal with it). This was my first ever Disney tattoo, the enchanted rose from Beauty and The Beast. I'm planning on covering my legs in Disney tattoos, mainly icons for each of the princesses.

15.) M O O N

So me and my best friend got matching crescent moons on our fingers. I always wanted a crescent moon as yet another Sailor Moon tribute (I eventually want all of the soldiers planetary symbols on my fingers), and my best friend thought it was cute, so we decided to get them together. Aren't we sweet.

16.) S P A C E - T I M E   K E Y

This is my most recent tattoo (Sailor Moon inspired... again), Chibiusa's space-time key she uses to travel from Crystal Tokyo to modern day Tokyo. I chose to get the key because not only is it beautiful, it matches my birdcage! Since my sleeve is going to be incredibly girly, my artist decided to add some beads and petunias around the key to fill some more space. This still needs colouring.

F U T U R E   T A T T O O S

  • Mermaid portrait on my right forearm
  • A magpie and jewels on my upper right arm
  • An expansion on my thigh pieces, but I'm unsure what of yet.
  • Cinderella's glass slippers on my calf.
  • Sailor Moon's Crisis Heart Compact on the front of my ankles, possibly.
  • A rosy maple moth on my back, underneath my anchor probably
  • A totoro tattoo somewhere
  • A japanese lucky cat with cherry blossom petals on my leg
  • The cinderella castle on my calf
  • Duchess from The Aristocats wearing pearls somewhere
  • (this one is booked for next Wednesday) Snow White's hand holding a poisoned apple, on my leg
